The first workshop introduces the method and approach, explains the ethos behind a women and non-binary people only grant writing group and sets House rules. Participants introduce themselves to each other and work on their hook by imagining a world when their idea/research has been realized or implemented. We will then work on ‘Defining the Problem’, ‘Drawing its Limits’ and ‘Communicating the Central Message’.
The focus this week is on significance but must be rooted in the research proposal itself (ie a factual account of what you can achieve). Innovation is a key aspect of success in funding, and in some cases, is tightly interlinked with significance so might also be considered here. You will need to demonstrate how your research will lead to a significant innovation/change/advance of knowledge in a health outcome or fundamental, health-related field.
