As the Executive Officer of the Doherty Institute, I am responsible for communications and marketing; engagement and stakeholder management; and strategic programs. The Institute is an unincorporated joint venture between the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the University of Melbourne and is focused on finding solutions to prevent, treat and cure infectious diseases and understand the complexities of microbes and the immune system.
WiSPP allows the Institute to benchmark our performance in gender equity against similar organisations. It allows us to pool resources to better support women in science. Diverse workplaces drive excellence, and I am a great believer in equity in all aspects of life. Organisations need to actively strive to be diverse workplaces and WiSPP provides an avenue to do this.
